A quick update on life at the wonderful world of Chessington today. In under 3 weeks, I have already managed to get into shit due to my allowing three kids cross the back of a Vampire train while it was loading. I have been summarily dismissed and allowed to appeal. At the minute I am in the process of writing a letter justifying why I should be given my job back, including such pertinent points as:-
1. Train 1 was loading, train 2 stopped to wait around the corner as it always does, therefore the health and safety of guests (which Chessington states is of paramount importance) was never endangered.
2. The dismissal centred around my superiors informing me that a ride attendant must ask operator permission before allowing guests to cross the ride track. This was not included in my training.
3. As an extension of 2., one other member of rides staff, whose name shall remain undisclosed, has come forward to allege that he/she was not trained on this either.
4. None of the guests involved in the incident complained about my conduct.
5. Other operators have indirectly allowed guests to cross without other attendants seeking their respective permissions.
We shall see. But would I really want to go back even if they caved in? I have no idea.
