This week I will be applying to the local council for funding, in order to put on local productions of Rebel Girl. If you have seen the bulletin I put out here, I've estimated the cost of running the show for a week to be in the region of £4,000 - assuming all cast and crew work for free. These figures were based on the current charges that Epsom Playhouse levies, so the true figure might be somewhat different, as Epsom of course isn't in Sutton borough. Playhouse has 406 maximum capacity, so based on 5 a ticket, we would need to sell 800 tickets over the week to merely break even. (This is 28.3% of all seating available.)
Councils take quite long to respond to proposals such as this, so I will be aiming to have received a decision by autumn. From there a schedule can be worked out, and auditions would probably be held early in the new year. All being well, the production should be greenlit for next summer.
