political allies completely deserted him and consequently left to fend for himself when

Palpitations

As night's velvet claws
Obfuscate his vision
The futility of truth at once
Hailed with pure derision

Iridescent rays of light
Propagate around
The heart – it beats, it palpitates
But else there’s not a sound

Synchronised with lunar time
Eight vortices run deep
The inner evil in us all
‘twixt the world asleep.

Emasculated in his age
Cast out by those he knew
Demonised by rivals, yes,
Their lies became what’s true.

Reflections skew a watery grave
Pastoral scene on the wall
A clock chimes once, and then again,
Morosely in the hall.

A life is plundered, rendered void
Chastened must we be.
For all the good he thought he’d done
It’s clear for all to see.

It’s like that proverb, how’s it go?
“Do the best you can.”
A funeral, wreaths everywhere,
The truth: a cast out man.

continuously recorded 24/7 footage wore the reporter down. paid holiday leave was accepted until

A Blue Day has now been changed to All That Jazz (equally original, right?) after realising that there was about zero percent blues content in the songs that I'd written. Instead I'm aiming at a hybrid of jazz, modernism, and ambient noise. There will be 13 tracks and at the moment, 8 are complete. A tentative tracklisting is:
1 Coffee Morning*
2 Put On Your Scuffed Size Tens
3 Motor Head
4 The Office Grind
5 Lunch To Go
6 How To Fall Asleep At Your Desk*
7 Shutting Up Shop*
8 On The Prowl*
9 A Walk In The Park*
10 Inside The Restaurant*
11 Mood 3*
12 Hints of Romance*
13 Panoramic Monochrome Depths of Sleep

[*Asterisked tracks have been completed]
This is a concept album which revolves around a fictional character and 'a day in the life'. Some of the themes it explores are the mundanity of urban life, the extent to which machines dehumanise people, the existence of moral and ethical vacuums, the ways in which routine breaks down fresh approaches to things, etc.

violent beast of london escaped from police net and remained at large and on the prowl after

Work has started on a new album (my fourth) which will have a decidedly blues feel to it. The provisional title is A Blue Day. (original or what?) Presently I'm busy arranging recorded parts for the first track, sketchily titled On the Prowl. Annoyingly, I only have 4 synthesised alto saxs at my disposal and they all sound proper shite. The alternative is to drag a saxophonist in, but I can't afford it. Perhaps this track will have to remain a trio for now. A second track should be done soon after re-arranging and neatening up some percussion.

moosehead

Canada is great! :) Writing this from my uncle's desktop whilst the 34 degree heat continues outside. We have been into the 'sticks' to visit my cousin, and to a lakeside cottage - each for a few days. So far the weather has been truly amazing. I've had to buy a new camera since my sister thought it would be a clever idea to pour a bucket of water over my old one. The new one is slightly chunkier but is 5.1MP instead of 4.1, and 6.1x total zoom instead of 5. Got a low price on it because the model was to be discontinued - $250 Canadian - about 125 quid. Pretty good stuff.

Plans for tomorrow are to visit a major water park, to visit my grandmother (on my mum's side) the day after, and then to spend a few days at my cousin's trailer, where no doubt much vodka-consuming will ensue.

Must dash.
